Oh the Horror – Heavy Metals

Feb 3, 2018

This is a story, an unfortunately common one, of woe, despair, frustration and poor health. All because of this thing called “heavy metals” and their impact on our nutritional well being.

Heavy Metals and their impact on our nutritional well being

For the chemistry buffs out there that remember their high school periodic table, zinc is surrounded by copper, cadmium and mercury. For us ‘non chem’ nerds that means that plants will absorb those minerals instead of zinc. So will our body.

Cadmium and mercury are straight up bad guy heavy metals. They effectively block magnesium, zinc, selenium and iron. That means all that wonderful organic food and those supplements are being potentially nutritionally wasted.

Dr Igor Trabrizian, in his book,

“Nutritional Medicine: Fact and Fiction.
Warning: This book contains explicit biochemical pathways and therefore is not suitable for Doctors”

Calls copper a Dr Jekyl/Mr Hyde. We need it and yet when it is over abundantly supplied by our exposure to Xenoestrogens; pesticides, car fumes, plastics, hormones and antibiotics within our meat and the prescribed ones in The Pill and HRT, copper takes on sinister proportions. Excess copper blocks not only magnesium, zinc and selenium but also vitamins B1, C, E, and folate and minerals molybdenum and manganese.

Now for the story…

You (or your baby girl) started life as a poor sleeper and fussy eater with strong preferences for chocolate and chicken.

Lots of colds rolled into painful and perhaps irregular or heavy periods with PMT thrown in. Your doctor suggests going on The Pill to settle things down. It seems to work.

Now wanting to have children you come off The Pill and things are worse than ever. It takes a while to fall pregnant (low zinc) and there may be heart breaking miscarriages (low progesterone). Eventually your baby arrived and after all that excited build up you now suffer from post natal depression (high copper) and baby is zinc deficient and probably has too high copper. The cycle continues…

(Blood tests hurt and they do not show you what is going on in the body tissues. That is where the true action is taking place. Hair analysis, not painful, or liver biopsies will.)

Depression

Wanting another baby, endometriosis is discovered so back on The Pill you go. Weight gain, depression and skin changes closely follow. Anxiety is next on this merry go round.

Anti depressants are prescribed. But unfortunately they do not help your tiredness.

Ah, iron deficient. But even supplements do not work. Must be your thyroid then. More drugs but still no real improvement. Eventually you go off The Pill and those nasty periods come back with a vengeance. Fibroids are discovered and a hysterectomy is recommended.

Low oestrogen levels

Now oestrogen levels are low but “hey, no uterus so you don’t need progesterone” WRONG!

Breast tenderness perhaps develop into lumps and oestrogen receptor positive cancer. Chemo and tamoxifen follow.

Secondary cancers

Five years later secondary cancers develop and once it hits the liver (to quote Dr Trabrizian with his irreverent tongue in cheek humour)…

“not much more we can do, we’ve really done our best. We’ve followed the book; every single health recommendation. Oh, and by the way, don’t go near those natural therapists. They have no idea how to help you. End of story”

How wrong. Xenoestrogens ran this script. Check copper levels.

“Do you think that the Pharmaceutical companies who make oral contraceptives, HRT or chemotherapy stand to lose or gain if doctors were aware of these problems? No, it’s all just a conspiracy theory with no evidence whatsoever. Or is it…?”

Please excuse my retelling of this story (roughly) because it is just too important not to.
